Earlier this morning, the German heavy metal pioneers announced that Victor Smolski and Peter “Peavy” Wagner decided to part their ways and continue working without each other, due to personal and musical differences. Even though they just celebrated their 30th anniversary and the release of their exclusive song collection “The Soundchaser Archives” in 2014, after 15 years, 10 records and countless concerts and tours, they decided the end of the band and the beginning of new musical challenges. According to their statement: “We have developed different directions in the last years, that much, that we cannot identify with the current band situation anymore. In this situation we will also part from drummer Andre Hilgers. The last 15 years were blessed with many highlights and great releases but this era is over now. Every extension would be untrue to ourselves and to our fans. We wish each other all the best! Thanx to all the fans for your trust and support!”. Smolski, in addition to all that, informed us that his orchestra project formed in 2013 will continue performing and actually is about to release a new album, but without Peavy in the lineup.
Although RAGE disbanded, “The Soundchaser Archives” is available in 2CD/DVD box, featuring 30 rare/new/unreleased tracks, plus a bonus DVD, released on May 23, 2014 via Nuclear Blast.
