Sarke, the beast of a line-up featuring (ex) members of Darkthrone, Enslaved and Khold, return with their 7th studio album entitled “Allsighr”. Nocturne Culto started this project in 2008 and not many believed that more than a dozen years later they could stay alive and dangerous. In their new effort they start from the exact same point that “Gastwerso” their last work stopped. In a matter of fact Sarke’s discography seems like a giant book that every record is a new chapter. So for another time the band follows the same formula. They continue to exploit a strange yet very interesting mixture of 70’s hard rock influences with 80’s speed metal riffs and 90’s black metal cold atmosphere. “Allsighr” has this groovey hard rocking vibe blended with dark passages, doom aura and psychedelic sounds. The whole album has a repetitive beat and hypnotic rhythm enriched with heavy riffing and straight forward compositions that has some outstanding moments such as “Bleak Reflections”, “Funeral Fire” and “Imprisoned” while the whole idea behind “Allsighr” seems to be a claustrophobic ambient mood, thankfully not like hearing the same song in alternate versions. Personally speaking I enjoyed it several times and won me.
Allsighr was recorded by Børge Finstad and Kevin Kleiven at Top Room Studios, mixed by Lars Erik Westby at H-10 productions and mastered by Thomas Eberger at Stockholm Mastering. The artwork was created by Kjell Åge Meland.
