Satan’s Blade is a 1984 American slasher film directed by L. Scott Castillo, Jr., and starring Tom Bongiorno, Stephanie Leigh Steel, and Thomas Cue. The cult film story goes like this: a man living near a mountain resort begins terrorizing two groups of ski lodge after he is possessed by the evil spirit of the ancient mountain. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw their moniker but then after the first song played I remembered the riffs and that made me search in my archives and discotheque. Satan’s Blade is an American (from San Jose) super cult group that should ring a bell to die hards of cult heavy metal fans as almost 7(or 8,really can’t remember without googling it) released a 4 song instrumental demo that shake the underground scene, or better saying that should shake the global underground scene. Now we have their first attempt on a full length. Cobra Strike Ep that was leading was the first punch as it introduced as their new singer. The excellent structure on songwriting with the perfect guitars, the sharp riffs and frenetic solos that Alonzo Maldonado and Andrew Webb provided us needed some killer vocal lines and damn Kyle Lee surely delivers a bunch of those in the 7 tracks that are featured in their debut. Lee has a tremendous voice that will bring in mind a hybrid of Leather Leone and Tim Baker that will satisfy you. An Iron Maiden meets Agent Steel meets Metal Church meets 3 Inches Of Blood meets Chastain blended influences are enough to make you thrilled about this release. An underground gem from November 2022 that would be in my top 12 list if I had heard it earlier for sure! Highlights: “Curse of the Blade”, “Cobra Strike”, “Burning Skies” and the eleven minute closer “For Those Who Dare To Dream.”
