No Remorse records 2020

Genre: Heavy/Power Metal
Country: U.S.A.
Label: No Remorse Records
Year: 2020

So we have a new album from Shok Paris after 31 years! This is something that we didn’t actually expected, but on the other hand we probably deep inside thought that this would happen eventually, as the band is active again since 2009, even though they were focused on live shows. Of course, we welcome this kind of moves and artistic concerns. Let’s remind you all that since their reunion until today, the only original members are Ken Erb and Vic Hix. Shok Paris in the early years of their career, in the glorious 80’s, had made an easy 3 out of 3 in their record attempts. I think it would be unfair to approach the “Full Metal Jacket” by comparing it directly with their past releases. But if he/she does so, he/she is more likely to get a little frustrated. On the other hand, if he/she sees it as an effort for this year for well-played Heavy / Power Metal, he/she will come out victorious as the album has quite good moments. Specifically, songs such as “Black Boots” and “Hell Day” can be easily mixed with their old anthems in their live performances set list. The voice of Vic Hix stands at inconspicuously levels and with its characteristic tone reminds us which exactly the band we are listening to is. Drums, guitars and bass are also standing at satisfactory levels and seem to have been well worked. As a conclusion the record in its entirety has a good flow and the listener does not get tired by it. Hopefully, the “Full Metal Jacket” will be the new beginning for even more…They certainly have the potential but only time will tell if all this can have a future…
