Skyeye, is a five member band from Ljubljana, Slovenia, yes the motherland of Luka Dončić has a metal scene guys. SkyEye was founded in 2014 by guitarist Grega Stalowsky, bassist Primož Lovšin and singer Jan Leščanec. They got their current line-up in 2016 when guitarist Marko Kavčnik and drummer Jurij Nograšek joined the band. “Soldier of Light” is their sophomore release following their debut album “Digital God” that unfortunately I haven’t give much attention to be honest back in 2018 (they have also recorded an  EP under the title “Run for Your Life” in 2017). And that was a huge mistake. But this time with “Soldiers Of Light” things are going to be different. It’s not only the quality of the new songs, as this was a factor was also present in their first attempt, but now it seems like now it’s the perfect timing or even like the time has come for the masses to get know Skyeye, so as for me included. The album starts with “The Arrival” an ambient intro that leads to “King Of Skies”. From the very first notes the Iron Maiden/ Dickinson’s solo career atmosphere is dominating everything, the excellent dual guitars, the harmonies, the rhythmic undertone and the great vocal lines of their singer Jan Leščanec, in the veins of Bruce Dickinson and create a Heavy/Power environment that fans of traditional metal and especially Maiden fanatics just cannot escape or avoid but to fall in love with. There are some outstanding tracks that ooze the greatness of the 80’s and brings in mind songs that made people save some money to buy tickets to hear them live, making sold out concerts around the globe, such as “Soldiers Of Light”, the Sabbath meets Rainbow “Brothers Under the Same Sun”, “Constellation”, “Detonate” and the epic, almost 15 minutes long closer “Chernobyl”. A beautiful proposal that will please friends of outsiders or bands that comes from “exotic” countries (outside U.S.A., Germany, U.K or Scandinavia) and those who feel great admiration or devotion for melodic Heavy Metal. Canadian cult heroes Deaf Dealer fans probably a little bit more…
