Due to the traffic I arrived really late at Kyttaro Live stage, and as a result I lost the show MAGISTER TEMPLI gave. As soon as I entered the venue, the speed/thrash assault from CONVIXION had begun! I was really amazed with their style references of Violent Force, Agent Steel, Anvil and Savage Grace. Very pleasant show and powerful! Next in line were veterans DAMIEN THORNE. Their biggest asset is their singer’s amazing voice, as well as the fact that they finished their show with a “War Pigs” cover. One of the bands I was looking forward to seeing on stage was DEXTER WARD, as their “Neon Lights” album was great. So was their live show, heavy to the bone, and their hymns “Ghost rider” and “Blackout in L.A.” performed live are killing. BATTLEROAR is a band for which there is not much to say. Having released a marvelous album recently, their show was dedicated to that period. Everything was perfect, but the best moment of their performance were the violin parts and the way its melodies mesmerized the audience. Simply magnificent. The night was progressing and it was the turn of ATLANTEAN KODEX to take control of the masses! Great performance, great sound quality and certainly a perfectly matched prelude to DOOMSWORD. The Italian epic war machine had no problem to lead the crowd to rampage, as the Athens audience was familiar with their sound. One disturbing thing was that although all members look like vikings, with beards and long hair and all, the lead guitarist looks like a hipster (but as a guitarist he is really great). The moment most of us anticipated was about to begin. Legendary OMEN take their place on stage and Kyttaro is on fire! Personally speaking, I didn’t like the way they were dressed and acted on stage; my view was further enforced when singer Kevin Goocher invited his daughter on stage to join in one of the greatest songs in U.S. Metal history, the classic “Don’t fear the night”. In my eyes, this counts as disrespect to the band’s unbelievable past. For people less stubborn and closed-minded, OMEN’s appearance was something out of this world, playing all their classics and also a new track dedicated to Greece called “Hellas”. The whole arena was singing along! Great moments. Last but not least, TITAN FORCE! It is not necessary to know the band in order to realize their quality. They were amazing, and it was made clear that Tyrant maybe have the best metal singer performing excellently every song of their glorious past with ease! A magic night and a brilliant festival. A truly memorable day!
