I was watching a Master Chef episode in Greek TV when they had a kind of game where the players were spinning two wheels. Each wheel had 6 different ingredients. Their goal was to cook a dish with a combination of what the 2 wheels would fortune them. Of course, it wasn’t as simple as pasta on one wheel and meat on the other one. For example, a guy had calamari and lamb as his main ingredients. Fuck I thought it was too difficult to do so but everyone on the show was surprised from his result. I really can’t imagine how this dish would taste. But when I heard Igorrr’s new album (or better saying Gautier Serre’s album) it brought to my mind this certain episode of the cooking TV show. You see Igorrr blend symphonic metal in the veins of Dimmu Borgir with oriental scales as Melechesh and Orphaned Land do, with 8bit sounds and industrial beats in the veins of Rammstein and a fucking clean production that helps the female opera-like vocals to shine. Are you confused from the variety of disparate genres, including black metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip hop or not? Well at least you can get a taste of what you will or not will buy in YouTube or bandcamp, as for me I will never get a chance to taste how shitty or perfect was the calamari-lamb dish…
